S5-E10: Dynamic Battlefields – Part 1

In this episode, we dive into a discussion about ways to make combat encounters more engaging by having the characters interact with more than just the baddie they’re up against. Making use of things like distance, terrain, hazards, and timers can really increase the dynamics of the gameplay!

I hope that in one of the future episodes you will discuss using some the terrain and locations distinctive to the Dragon Empire, such as hellholes, koru, Overworld, the Moonwreck, etc. Also, in the most recent issue of Escalation, I offered suggestions on how to adapt 5e’s Lair actions to 13th Age. Many lair actions are terrain affects.
